About the program.

The Laro Kwo project (LKP), ‘saving lives’ in Acholi, was developed in 2016 after difficulty standardizing Village Health Team (VHT) health education and training. The Uganda Health Ministry and the non-profit organizations Northern Uganda Medical Mission (NUMEM) and MGY, teamed up with local community leaders and lauched this program in June 2016 after two years of community-led planning. This program was developed to equip VHT members with the skills to recognize and refer individuals with emergent health conditions in their villages. These skills, through the application of a train-the-trainer methodology, will further develop local health capacity in a scalable and sustainable manner.
